Other Information
Patient Participation Group
We have in place a Patient Participation Group. The aims of the PPG are to:
- Keep patients informed of developments in the practice and the community.
- Educate patients about the practice and about services available from Community Social Services.
- Invite suggestions of ways to improve services in the practice and community.
- Communicate with the rest of the practice.
Practice Training And Development
The practice closes periodically for an afternoon to allow all members of the
practice team time for training and development. A doctor will always be available on the
telephone in case of an emergency or if urgent advice is required.
Training Practice
We are a training practice, which means we often have a registrar in the practice for a
year. The registrar is a fully qualified doctor with a wide range of hospital experience (at least
three years in various specialities). Their year here is their last year before they are eligible to
become a full partner in the practice. Some of their surgery consultations may be videoed for training
purposes but we will always seek permission before doing this.
We are also an approved practice for medical students to gain experience in general practice. If the
doctor has a student with them, the receptionist and doctor will inform you. If you would prefer to see
the doctor alone please say so.
Freedom Of Information Act 2000
We comply with this and details are available from the practice.
Services Outside The Remit Of The NHS
Certain services such as private sick notes, insurance claim forms and some medical
examinations are not covered by the NHS and charges are made in line with BMA recommendations.
Please ask at reception for details. Special medical examinations eg life insurance, HGV, employment
etc are not performed during normal surgery hours and special appointments should be made
through reception.
